The Story Behind Holding On

I wrote this song after the tragic death of a young, beautiful, kind and vibrant young woman, Brandi Meshad. I saw a picture of her with her arms open wide, standing in the bright doorway of her High School, Her happy silhouette looking as if she was crossing into another world. It moved me and I thought, when our loved ones cross over, we desperately want to know if they're alright, waiting for a sign, waiting by the phone, figuratively. So I wrote this song, dedicated to Brandi and her mother Lisa, and to all of our loved ones who are gone. My brother Tony, sand this with me at a Recovery concert and I"m so glad that Vicky Sullivan had a copy of it. I'm putting the lyrics here below, much love, Twinkle
Holding On, words and music by Twinkle Schascle Yochim
The Freedom that you're looking for ,Is right outside that open door
And all the things I think we'd miss Are sealed inside an angels kiss
But we are Holding On, Staying Strong, waiting, by the phone, Hoping you will call
And we are Holding on, Staying strong, waiting, by the phone, hoping you will call and let us know how you are and that you're alright.
Of all the things I think I'd say, You are beautiful in every way
and I know, I know we're the last to know Why it's you, that had to go, away
But we are Holding On, Staying Strong, waiting, by the phone, Hoping you will call
And we are Holding on, Staying strong, waiting, by the phone, hoping you will call and let us know how you are and that you're alright.
How you are, that you're alright
