Today I am most grateful for our friend Patti B. Brainard, a consummate musician, smartass and person. She plays Chain of Fools with me like no other. She's been a part of my life since I was 13, when she used to sneak me in the side door by the stage at her shows with SAMURAI so that I could jam with them. That kind of support for a young singer was so inspirational and fueled my fire to be on stage. (Thank you, Patti). I love her, but I am not alone. Everyone loves Patti. Recently she found out that she has cancer, and the rapid change in her health was alarming.
So all in all a great week. Weird, but great. So much music, stress and joy, life is very interesting. We (Rock Soul Radio) had a magic day musically at the Stone Crab fest, and then the Jam in Madeira beach with the Mad Beach Mafia was stellar.
I swear when Glen comes up from behind the soundboard and plays ‘Someone Saved My Life Tonight’ it’s so emotional, cause Terry and Jimmy sing backup and Leo plays percussion and we’re all just kids again, who grew up listening to this stuff. Really a special moment. I’m going to record and video this next Sunday and post it to You Tube. In fact, so much goes on in one week that I think I’ll just wear a GoPro for a week to document. Especially since my first born Ursula is coming home for 13 days to do some singing and filming of the ‘Happy State’ video.
My mother was a therapist in my teen years. She raised me with philosophies from the East and was always teaching me what she learned. I use many of these tools every day and I’m reminded that our state of emotion and mind effects our health and of course our decision making. But, my hardest emotions, regret, worry, fear, betrayal, heartbreak, hate, jealousy, etc., take more effort sometimes.
Going through the program helped me a great deal, I was able to eliminate the 'rat on the wheel' and forgive the past, myself and others. The tools I have learned throughout my life are great gifts that I use every single day, and am so grateful for. Lately though, going through a legal drama with an ex friend, it's harder to let go of some of these feelings and I find myself waking up with it all on my mind and heavy in my gut. The magic of this baby is that I look at her and realize that I would trade everything in the world for her to be here, happy and healthy, and she is.
My birthday was Wednesday, August 27. The day came and went without much hoopla, I got to hang with my favorite girl Solara, had a nice dinner with Tony, baby Solara and Sande Caplin at Primo Ristorante and I was relaxed and happy. Lovely phone calls, and well wishes, and I pretty much was fine with that.
The weekend came and things picked up a little bit. Our Friday Unplugged show at Bobs Boathouse was great, and we had terrific people come in as usual, but by Saturday I was looking forward to cranking it up at the Hoosier and rocking out.
My Mom always told me that out of the muck, comes the Lotus Blossom or something to that effect. Its an old Hindu / Buddhist saying that pretty much represents the way she raised me. Everything happens for a reason, Follow your Bliss, and God has a sense of humor," stuff like that. Anyway, as is true much of the time, shes right.
Throughout my life, these philosophies have gotten me through, taught me how to live effectively and happily and find balance no matter what. And lately through another dramatic twist, they are proving once again to be of service... Thanks Mom.
And thanks Sande Caplin and his "team" of Associates for building a badass website for the band Rock Soul Radio, and me. We were presented with this incredible site on Friday during our Acoustic show at Bobs Boathouse, when in comes Sande, armful of red roses to alert us that the site had just gone live. All of a sudden the entire audience are looking it up on their phones, and mere hours later, the website had been viewed in 25 different countries, wow!! The band and I are excited to expand on this and will all have blogs, live concert podcasts, a store, etc. We are writing for the new album and have got some kickass new songs for The Ballad Of Buddy Yochim. So thank you all for your support and encouragement.
Go Get em Guys etc. and thanks for listening, without you there is no music. The future is bright, and Everything Happens For A Reason. Love, Twinkle
